You are now viewing this website from my new Dedicated server
. It has:
Intel Core Quad Q6600
4GB Ram
160GB space
6IP addresses
1.5TB bandwidth at 100mbps
Please let me know if you see any issues/errors as the migration was sort of rushed in between doing a few other things.
Please also tell me if you see a noticeable drop in load times as this was the main objective of the move
Cheers
Stephen
Today I have just ordered a Dedicated Server to host all of my websites
This is due to the increased load being put on the server by my facebook app Drag Racer. The server I got was from Hivelocity.com and has the following specs:
Intel Core Quad Q6600
4GB Ram
160GB space
6IP addresses
1.5TB bandwidth at 100mbps
This cost me $140/mo
To you guys this means, crazy fast load times but most importantly [b]Hosting![/b]
I will offer hosting at a fair price to anyone who asks. Just post me a comment in this blog and I will consider your request
It will be Apache or Lighttpd (I haven’t decided yet) With PHP Support, MySQL, etc etc
Cheers
Stephen
Today I have redirected the root domain [url=http://groomi.net]groomi.net[/url] and [url=http://www.groomi.net]www.groomi.net[/url] to point to this blog, as well as the [url=http://blog.groomi.net]current subdomain[/url].
This is after I realised that I will probably never have a more important website than this one to put on the root of the domain. Previously there was a landing-type page with 3 links. One to this page, another to [url=http://sjgmusic.com]SJG Music[/url] and another to [url=http://facebook.groomi.net]facebook.groomi.net[/url]. I figured that if those sites ever become active, I can simply link to them from here as this page is likely to get alot more hits than a content free landing page.
All the old links are still accessible from [url=http://blog.groomi.net]blog.groomi.net[/url] but in the future I will be linking to this site simply as [url=http://www.groomi.net]groomi.net[/url].
If anyone finds any problems/pages that still link to blog.groomi.net please let me know and I’ll get them fixed.
Cheers
Stephen
Hello..
I am finally happy with and have unveiled my fabulous green blog design MK II !!!
With a little help from the CSS clear: attribute (didn’t that take some figuring out!) all is well and I hope you agree the blog is very el sexy and far better than it ever looked. I even think it rivals some WordPress blogs
Next in line is Gravatars and a quote button for the comment system
I will also be posting my holiday snaps as promised.. I just haven’t gotten round to doing it yet what with Drag Racer + my car breaking yesterday
Hello,
I have decided that it is time to replace my mspaint layout with something better. I have started to redesign the site to be better flowing, easier on the eye and easier to use+navigate. This is all available to view [url=/indexnew.php]over here[/url]. I would appreciate any criticism from you guys as I change this design. I think it will probably be released on the main page within a week or two.
Keep checking back for more updates

Yeah, tonight I had about an hours downtime. This was caused by my idiocy and hunger
I reinstalled MySQL today and in doing so, Debian removed ProFTPD. I changed the MySQL password in my header files and left Dreamweaver to do the uploading. I came back an hour later after having a bite to eat and watching some TV to find this and all of my other MySQL dependant sites offline.
I have since reinstalled ProFTPD and apologise to anyone who tried to access this site in the last hour and couldn’t
Hey,
This is a very small update to let you know that my website is now using XFN for linking to friends.
XFNâ„¢ (XHTML Friends Network) is a simple way to represent human relationships using hyperlinks. In recent years, blogs and blogrolls have become the fastest growing area of the Web. XFN enables web authors to indicate their relationship(s) to the people in their blogrolls simply by adding a ‘rel’ attribute to their <a href> tags.
I am currently using XFN for my Friends’ links on the left-hand-side of the page:
<a href="http://youreadmyblog.info" rel="friend met">Craig Bryson</a>
<a href="http://www.mattjewell.com" rel="contact">Matt Jewell</a>
<a href="http://www.enaresh.com" rel="acquaintance">eNaresh</a>
It’s quite a cute little system where you put keywords in the rel="" section of an [b]a[/b] tag to represent how you know the person. In Craig’s link we have the keywords ‘friend’ and ‘met’ because he is both a friend and someone who I have met in person.
Although entirely pointless, I think it is a nice little system and could even some day have a purpose if everyone were to use it. I am displaying the little 88×31 button below and I invite all you blog owners to click it and see what it is all about
.

Don’t forget I am always looking for link trades too, so if you would like one, feel free to leave a comment here
.
I just quickly added more articles on the main page as I thought it worked better than 2.
Comments??
Well, the more observant of you will have noticed on my [url=http://www.groomi.net]Main Website[/url] there is mention of a website-in-creation called SJGmusic.com. Well I started to make a design and think of ideas for what to do with it to make it cutting-edge and modern-looking.
I haven’t attempted to design a website since the internet was littered with a big network of sites copying one another and kids (myself included) trading links with 88x31px GIFs and big pixel font headers with every effect photoshop had thrown at it.
Obviously, I was in no good position to start making a website for what should some day be my livelihood, so off I trotted making a banner. I was toying with copying off of everyone else, and I came up with a number of ideas like not using images, using CSS etc. Eventually I fired up Photoshop and this is what I came up with:
[img]inc/img/misc/sjgmusic.png[/img]
This probably won’t stick for very long and the colour is subject to change but I was after you guys’ constructive criticism on how it is, and what to do to make it… better?
Thanks
Stephen
Just a quick update to let you all know that I have added an RSS feed to the website.
RSS feeds are a brilliant way to receive site updates and be alerted when new blogs are posted. Please [url=http://blog.groomi.net/rss.php]subscribe to the feed[/url].
